Nam is a sideboard with sliding doors and part of the Personae collection, a series in which each piece is symbolically dedicated to its first owner. The idea for this piece arose from the first owners’ love for classic, historic Vietnamese cabinets, which inspired me to reinterpret their traditional aesthetic through a contemporary lens. The sideboard reflects characteristic principles of Vietnamese cabinets – meticulous craftsmanship, rhythm, colour, and a sense of ceremony – expressed freely through my own design language. It is handcrafted using classic joinery techniques from solid ash wood in the Czech Republic.
